In March 2008, the HR blog “JimStroud.com” (aka JimStroud 2.0) rebranded itself as The Recruiters Lounge. At this writing, it is written by Jim Stroud (and friends) and explores the wacky world of employment with articles, podcasts, videos, comics and more.

Who is Jim Stroud?

Jim Stroud is a “Searchologist” with an expertise in the full life-cycle placement of Executive and Technical personnel, Recruitment Research and Competitive Intelligence. He has consulted for such companies as Google, Siemens, MCI and a host of start-up companies.  During his 3-year tenure with Microsoft, he served as a Technical Sourcing Consultant and was a regular contributor to Microsoft’s Technical Careers Blog. He is presently a Social Media Development Manager for a Silicon Valley Startup currently in stealth mode.

  • Relaunched “The Day In Recruiting” which now tracks 300+ blogs, podcasts and news stories
  • Redesigned my comic strip “The Recruiting Life”
  • Cited by The HR Capitalist as a Top HR Blog
  • Cited by JobMatchbox as a Top Recruiting Blog
  • Cited by Alexa as being among the Top 25 Recruiting Blogs
  • Launched a podcast - “The Big Idea” on Kennedy Information’s Recruiting Trends website
  • Switched hosting companies due to the amount of traffic JimStroud.com was receiving.
  • Released a series of training videos that explained how to reseach the internet for resumes, passive candidates and how to automate (some of) the sourcing process.
  • Launched the video version of “The Recruters Lounge”
  • Created multiple recruitment videos and podcasts to promote Microsoft opportunities
  • Traveled to India to train recruiters how to source passive candidates from the internet
  • Virtually trained multiple recruiting teams in Latin America and Asia Pacific countries on sourcing strategies and techniques
  • My comic “The Recruiting Life” was nominated by Gnomz for “Best Ongoing Comic Series” and “Best Newcomer of 2006”
  • Published my 100th comic strip of The Recruiting Life
  • Published my 50th podcast episode of The Recruiters Lounge
  • Launched the video edition of The Recruiters Lounge
  • Produced multiple podcasts and videos for Microsoft’s “Technical Careers at Microsoft Jobs Blog”
  • My blog was cited in Bullhorn’s Research Report: Tools of The Trade 2007 as being among the best blogs on the recruiting industry (50,000 staffing and recruiting professionals were surveyed)
  • Debuted the “2007 Resume Sourcing Survey,” a free industry whitepaper.
  • My “other site” TheDayInRecruiting.com was cited by Workforce Magazine
  • Presented at Microsoft’s Global Staffing Summit
  • Launched video-on-demand training series - “The Recruiters Guide.”

  • Launched - The Day In Recruiting, a one page guide to buzz in the recruitment industry.

  • Sold my first blog - “Jobseekers Revenge” to CollegeRecruiter.com.
  • Created “The Recruiting Life,” the first comic strip dedicated to the recruiting industry.
  • Interviewed and cited in the book “Happy About: Linked In For Recruiting.”

  • While at Google, staffing organization was ranked #18 out of a list of “Top 25 Companies in Recruiting and Talent” by the Electronic Recruiting Exchange (ERE).
  • Left Google to Join Microsoft as a “Technical Sourcing Consultant.”
  • Regular blogger on Microsoft’s Technical Careers Blog
  • Launched “Digability,” a series of training guides and blog coaching recruiters on how to best leverage the internet.
