RECRUITMENT PROCESS TIP OF THE DAY
.
Q: Jim, “I am trying to connect with some Top Secret types and because they are in such high-demand, its hard to get on their radar and get them to notice me (mush less my opportunities). Can you suggest a way I can grab their attention long enough for them to want to talk to me?”
A: Send a video email. Its easy, attention-grabbing and (chances are) you will be the only recruiter reaching out to them in this way. I use TokBox and have had no problems with it.

Below is my account page on TokBox.com.
I like TokBox because I can:
- Send a video email out to anyone
- Track when a video email has been opened and viewed
- I can hold a video conference with multiple users at a time
- I can embed a video player on my site that enables people to send me a video email directly.
- I can import my Instant Messenger contacts into TokBox and invite them to video chat with me in Tokbox. (Yahoo, GTalk, MSN and AIM)
IMAGINE THE RECRUITING POSSIBILITIES! Could video chats replace the cost of flying people in for an interview. (Hmmm…) If its a “chat” and not a formal interview, would you get in any OFCCP trouble? I wonder. I would be curious to hear from you guys on this. Let me know your thoughts?

Damon,
Thanks for reading my blog! I really appreciate it. Glad to know that TokBox is making the rounds among the HR sects.

I have to agree – video interaction with candidates is definately the medium to get “noticed”.
One of our larger clients uses Talent on View video solution to communicate with all company employees, candidates and clients.
You can also have an automated response to candidates when they apply for jobs – they watch a video of you talking about the process they will go through – it is engaging and gets more commitment from candidates as the usually one dimensional faceless process becomes humanised.

Thanks for the Tokbox mention! I do know that our VP of HR uses Tokbox all the time to talk to candidates.
P.S. I used to read your blog all the time when I was at Simplyhired.com:)
