Wow! First Yahoo, now Google is laying off employees

Yahoo had some major layoffs and now Google is sharpening up its axe to do some cutting. (Curiously enough, no mention of layoffs at Microsoft.)

What’s that you say? You have not heard anything about Google laying people off? Well, that’s because you did not read the fine print in a certain blog post written by Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google. Here is the teeny-tiny whisper of things to come buried deep in his announcement of Google’s acquisition of Doubleclick.

As with most mergers, there may be reductions in headcount. We expect these to take place in the U.S. and possibly in other regions as well. We know that DoubleClick is built on the strength of its people. For this reason we’ll strive to minimize the impact of this process on all of our clients and employees.
