How to recruit Gay People
Someone asked me the other day, “How do you recruit Gay people?”
They asked me as a recruiter seeking to specialize in Diversity Recruiting. Quite frankly, I was at a loss as I am unfamiliar with that demographic. Fortunately, I was able to help by suggesting a resource that was forwarded to me from my network.
Check this out…
Adify, an online company that is building ad networks for specific niches, has just announced its latest: the “Gay Ad Network.” Adify, a Belmont, Calif. start-up which launched last year, and which got $19 million in financing a few months ago (see our coverage) is a small player relative to the other big ad networks.

It has never been easier to reach more of the gay market. Acting as the online sales representative for many of the largest and most respected gay brands, we can deliver your message to your target audience simply and efficiently. You no longer have to limit your reach to the top gay portals or try to manage hundreds of small campaigns with independent publishers.

So my suggestion was to consult this agency and place an ad in a publication that reaches that audience. Good suggestion?

Under the Federal Regulations, unfortunately Gays are not yet considered a protected class with regards to discrimination in employment, thus unfortunately, they would not yet be considered diversity candidates.
Based upon wikipedia’s info - As of September 2007 there are only 20 states and approximately 140 jurisdictions that do protect individuals regarding employment discrimination.
They also mention that there is a proposed bill to ban anti-gay employment discrimination nationwide, known as the Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA), has been introduced in the U.S. Congress.

Hi Jim
Just to prove I still read your blog! Although I am a little late with this comment, I thought this site http://www.jobs.pinknews.co.uk/ would have been of interest, but unfortunately it is just for the UK.
