Yahoo is now suggesting searchstrings for Sourcers?
Have you been on Yahoo lately? They are really, really trying to take it up a notch with their competition with Google; and from the outside looking in, they are doing something right. (Actually two…)
For one, I stumbled across this data that proves people who search with Yahoo find what they are looking for MORE often than people who search on Google. Yet, Google remains numero uno. Go figure…
For two, Yahoo has a new “Search Assist” tool that guesses what you are looking for as you type and offers suggestions. It also offers up search string suggestions for Sourcers (kind of). Let me show you what I mean…
This is the new homepage for Yahoo. Notice the subtle note on the search bar? (Smile)

I begin my resume searching using the command “inurl:resume” and Yahoo starts suggesting searchstrings to me based on other people’s searches. Neat! (These suggestions slide down automatically from beneath the search bar. No worries. If you think this will bother you, you can turn this off at any time.)

Out of curiosity, I begin playing with more search commands, like “intitle:resume.”

As much as I like the possibilities of this, my best results came when I did not use syntax.

I think I will consult Yahoo like this in the future when looking for additional keywords to search on.
Happy hunting!
