How Sourcers can save the environment

I’ve been hearing a lot of hub bub about how to be a greener person and save the environment from Global Warming. I usually hear it in the context of why we should all carpool and teleommute. Not a bad idea I suppose, but what if you are a Sourcer who works from home most of the time anyway? How can you do your part? That is something I really think a lot about and you should too. Okay, not really, it just sounded “PC” to say that, rather than I think the planet will outlive our great-great-great grandchildren and their “greats” no mater what we do; but I digress.

If you are a tree-hugging recycler who happens to source the ‘net for resumes and leads as I do, you might find the following article of interest. A guy named Mark Ontkush started a controversy that will not stop in certain circles. In an infamous blog post, he postulated that if Google’s background was black instead of white, 3,000 megawatt-hours would be saved per year. (Gee, that’s a lot of lightbulbs.)

Well as that article grew into an overnight sensation, he writes a sequel that proves more popular than the predeccessor. To his credit, he makes a VERY compelling argument. So much so, that I began to think about it myself. (No, not really… again, being “PC.”)

Well, in case you want to “save the planet” or (like me) you simply think black is beautiful, check out some of the sites below. (You may be pleased in what you find.)
