If you accept the argument made by the “women make 66 / 75 / 79 cents for every dollar men make”, the logical conclusion would be that college isn’t as important to real world pay as they might like you to believe.
How do you juxtapose those to things?

Several answers:
1. Despite the fact that far more women pursue higher education now, that was not the case for a large portion of recent history. Thus, more men still have degrees in total.
2. What’s more, for the same reasons as above, a higher proportion of men with degrees are older. Those are the people who have had time to climb the corporate ladder, get a better salary, etc..
3. Your conclusion does not logically follow. It could very well be that uneducated women make X (where X
