Gautam Ghosh - A Renaissance Man in India

In the second ever video webcast of The Recruiters Lounge, Jim Stroud chats with international blogger - Gautam Ghosh. Gautam is a HR, OD and Business Blogging Consultant based in Hyderabad, India. Learn about GG’s ascent into the blogosphere (or is that talentosphere?), other Indian bloggers, how recruiters are using (or are not) using blogs to fill their open positions, Social Media, Shameless Plugs and a few other things. (And yes, by popular demand, I’ve added more sight-seeing clips.) 100 photos of India

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I just uploaded about 100 photos of my trip to India into my Flickr account for your viewing pleasure. (Actually, I added about 97 photos, but 100 photos of India sounded better in the title.) Click here to see the photos, or the screenshot below. Enjoy…

COMIC - The Recruiting Life - 100th episode and counting…

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I was uploading a batch of comics for the next week when I discovered that I had surpassed the 100 mark with this entry. That’s right! This post marks the 100th episode of “The Recruiting Life,” (still) the only comic strip devoted to the recruiting industry.

I am so VERY appreciative of the support of my readers and all of the HR guest stars that have made an appearance (or have been mentioned) in my strip like: Gretchen Ledgard, Zoe Goldring, Joel Cheesman, Chad Sowash, Glenn Gutmacher, Jason Davis, The Recruiting Animal, Lou Adler, Geri Crispin, Shally Steckerl, Otis Collier, Steve Levy, Maureen Sharib, Dave Mendoza, Amybeth Hale, Bill Vick, Gautam Ghosh, AK Menon and Karen Mattonen to name a few. The most important contribution is of course from my subscribers who give suggestions and share their funny, real-life stories with me. Thank you and everyone SO VERY MUCH for your support. Let’s meet here again when I post episode 200 - coming soon.

For now, please celebrate with me what has been accomplished so far? For your enjoyment, The Recruiting Life #100 and a few more after that.

Enjoy!

-Jim

For a good time in India, call Riz!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
Mohd. “Riz” Rizwan was the best tour guide - Ever! He was a big reason why my tour of The Taj Mahal and other sites was so enjoyable. Articulate, professional and personable, Riz is someone you want in your rolodex. Whenever you visit India, you MUST give this guy a call and have him take care of you. (Tell him I sent you.)

I was in India!

Jim Stroud at the Taj Mahal

Last week, I experienced one of the best assignments - EVER! Microsoft flew me to Hyderabad, India to train their recruiters on how to source passive candidates in India and around the world. To say that I had a blast would be an understatement. India is now more than a piece of geography to me, it is now a permanent fixture in my heart.

India is…

 • Friendly people; actually, lots and lots and lots of friendly people.
 • A rich diversity of culture and thought.
 • Kinetic and expansive
 • Mystery, history and the nouveau - side by side
 • And the Taj Mahal, oh, it was SO beautiful!

I took a lot of video and photos while I was over there and will be sharing my experiences all week. I hope you enjoy all I share as I certainly will enjoy presenting it to you.

Thanks again Microsoft!

The Week In Recruiting (Reading the blogs, so you don’t have to…)

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

My Fab15 for the week…

1. Why don’t we have this for recruitment videos? (Check out one of the nominees above)  2. If we did have it, who would enter? 3. Who would win? 4. And who would use it as a forum for political debate? 5. Or should we only expect the typical standard corporate rah-rah? 6. Maybe a celebrity or two will make an appearance. 7. I suppose we could ask that same celeb to make a statement for diversity. 8. Recruitment Training videos could be a category too, I suppose. 9. For that matter, howzabout a section for world’s biggest ego on a video resume. 10. And one for the parodies of such egos.

11. But I digress, where the money at? 12. No, don’t worry about taking off your coat. 13. Who has time to review 4,723+ resumes? Apparently, Simon does. 14. Good one Rihesh. (wink) 15. A disturbing trend? (This is like the 3rd time I’ve read about this happenning.) 15.5. (And now, a shameless self-promotional plug) Who needs Monster? Learn how to get free resumes from the web with my sourcing training videos. Buy now, buy often.

The internet is not american, nor is it static.

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

The internet is not american, nor is it static. The way you recruit today will change in 15 minutes and then every second after that. Are you ready for it? Have you even thought of it? Check out this video and consider it a wake-up call to Recruiting 15 minutes into the future.
