BLOGSWAP: Accenture Enters the Podcasting Arena
Much has been written about how and why employers should use podcasting as a recruiting tool. In fact, well over one million web pages refer to it. (Link) Yet few employers have embraced it. Why? There are likely as many reasons as there are employers, but one of the key reasons is that podcasting is new media and it takes a while for new media to catch on. When it does, it is often because a prominent organization uses that new media and uses it well. If that’s the case with podcasting, then its time has come as Accenture is now using podcasting as a recruiting tool.
(This) is the main page for Accenture’s podcasting efforts. At that page, you can search their content by author or subject and either listen to the audio content individually or subscribe through an RSS feed so that every time they post a new podcast, you’ll automatically be notified through RSS.
Chances are that many HR and other professionals will be scratching their heads over some of the words and acronyms in the above paragraph. If you’re one of them, don’t sweat it. This type of content is targeted squarely at the Accenture candidates who are still in college or who recently graduates. These members of Gen Y are comfortable with podcasts, RSS feeds, and just about all other forms of technology. Keep in mind that just as you don’t need to be a chemical engineer in order to recruit one, you also don’t need to be a technology savvy member of Gen Y to recruit one.
