I have over 9 years of recruitment research and yet, I am still learning new tricks. Check out this cool trick I picked up from “The Australian Wonder” – Rob McIntosh. . Imagine finding the resume of the perfect candidate only to find out that they were not swayed by your pitch and are quite happy where they are. But never fear! They will give you a call once they are ready to make a move. (Ummm… yeah, don’t hold your breath.) If this is a situation you are familiar with (and what recruiter is not?), then I suggest that you configure your Internet Explorer browser to send you an email whenever your perfect candidate updates their resume. . You say, “Wow! You can do that?” . To which I reply, “But of course.” . Let’s use my resume as an example (http://jimstroud.com/resume.html). There is a screenshot of it below. . |

. Once you are at my resume, make it a favorite by clicking the star on your Internet Explorer browser. When the “Add Favorite” window pops open, check the “Make available offline” box. . |

. Now go to the favorite link you just made (my resume) and right click on it. Choose the “Select properties” and a window pops up. (see below) -> Click make page available offline (Arrow #1) and then click the download tab (Arrow #2). . |

. Click the box “When this page changes, send an email to:” (see below) and then add your email address and mail server info, then click “Apply” and then “OK.” . *NOTE: Your email and mail server should already be listed but if not, check your “Account settings” in Outlook or whatever email program you are using. . |

. Now when I update my resume, you will get a heads up. . Try this trick on other candidates that catch your fancy and when you get an update in email, tell Rob thanks for the tip. . |
