Sorry, my signal dropped…
Who likes having a conversation with a potential hire and suddenly your cellphone signal drops? I (especially) do not! Fortunately, I can do more than wine about it. I can add my complaint to several other cellphone subscribers and create a database of where not to use my cellphone. I am (of course) speaking of - Dead Cell Zones.
From their website…

DeadCellZones.com is a leading research community dedicated to identifying areas within the United States and Canada where cellular phone calls are frequently dropped or where cell phone service is not available. The web site provides an open database platform for consumers to easily report intersections or general areas where they cannot make or receive phone calls. We also ask for specific intersections where a dropped call is expected — the infamous “I’m going to lose you in a second…” It is our mission to report these gaps in coverage to wireless carriers to more effectively address these problems. We believe seamless wireless coverage can be achieved if carriers simply listen to their customers and prioritize network upgrades based frequency of complaints.
The web site has received over 100,000 complaints since the web site was founded in 2001. However, the web site only maintains fresh records and currently has 18,000+ searchable dead cell zone coverage complaints in its’ database. Starting in early 2006 the web site has started getting feedback on its’ consumer complaints from the carriers themselves and provides this data on the web site. Carriers provide feedback on the data when they have made network upgrades and when network upgrades are planned.
Interesting site. Worth a peek…
