PODCAST - Steve Levy discusses innovative recruitment strategies

About Our Guest

Steve Levy, Mr. outside-the-box, actively sought out recruiting and OD because he was tired of HR making career decisions for him and his fellow engineers. His experience in BioEngineering, S/W Engineering, Mgmt Consulting, BPR, Supply Chain, Strategic Planning, & Patent Law is a sign that early on he was clueless - fortunately, grad work in Org Psych took him into HR and the first brick in his foundation was set. Years later, there was leading edge work in career counseling, social networking, and finally every area of recruiting and OD. All this after that BS Engineering (Tau Beta Pi) from UVM. Rapier wit aside, his real job includes being a hands-on builder and renovator of high performance recruiting organizations for culturally-challenged organizations (meaning lots of change management).

His real love however is still being a lifeguard at Jones Beach State Park on Long Island in New York where he’s honed his recruiting skills since 1977. ( Just what kind of recruiting do you do there Levy?? )

Steve is the testosterone-laced counterpart to Maureen Sharib’s estrogen-filled role in bringing The Recruiting Edge to the blogsphere (and the 2006 Award-winning Desperate Sourcers recruiting soapumentary). Although he hasn’t posted recently over on ERE, his Blogging Outside the Box was an ERE first and he’ll always be a David Manaster fan. Likewise, Steve also enjoys reading Recruiting.com because he thinks Jason, Anthony and Jim are on the edge (another reason why Canadian Headhunter’s Recruiting Animal is now a favorite read. He used to like Samsung phones until Dennis Smith moved to t-Mobile - and is still waiting to say he loves t-Mobile (wink, wink). He especially enjoys writing blog posts from Starbucks (as long as his Starbucks card can pay for decaf coffees).
Above all, he thinks there’s nothing cooler than Jim Stroud 2.0.

Nothing says "Thanks for posting this Jim!" like Starbucks Coffee. Click here to buy me a cup (or two).
