Jim,
I am Mehnaaz ,writing you from India. I am currently employed with (confidential) as a recruiter, I hold 2 years of experience in recruitment. My current assignment is on hiring management consultants.
Here are my views on Hiring in India:
Indian market is rich market with pool of talented professionals in every sector, but from my expereinces I could conclude that the major challenges I faced in hiring were:
-
Lack of discipline; any candidate can ditch you anytime even if it means joining and leaving the company in a single day.
-
JOB Hopping
-
More intrested in heiarchry and levels compare to job role
-
Compensation plays a pivotal role; you can attract and lose candidate .
-
Still need to educate themselves on understanding the concept of dignity of labor.
But I feel these challenges can be overcome, If one possess…
-
Understanding of Indian mindset, its a country of diverse culture, requires lot of knowledge to attract and retain the right talent.
-
Extremely hard working-need good leaders to run the show
-
Commited in terms of time
-
More emotional-rather than professional or practical
-
Bit biased on the basis of cast, creed.
…but ON THE WHOLE, its a great place and it provide amazing learning EXPERIENCE on different facet of human beings including hiring.
