Work in India and hit the lottery?
If you thought the US dollar spends well abroad, you would feel like a lottery winner if you could take your USA salary to other countries. Case in point…
Bangalore or Boston, Chennai or Chicago, Kolkata or California, Delhi or Detroit, Mumbai or Manhattan , CXO salaries are tending to be the same. All these top executives, who hold strategic positions are remunerated equally, irrespective of their posting locations.
Look at the salaries CXOs are paid. Baru Rao left Syntel to head Capgemini in Mumbai for an annual salary of over $400,000. In Chennai, Polaris hired Arup Gupta as president and COO from TCS US for $300,000 plus stock options . Reliance Infocomm inducted a new president (applications ) paying him over $300,000, more than what he got in the US from Vodafone.
An alternate power generation company in Bangalore hired a director (sales) for an annual salary of $140,000. A top executive of Cisco moved from the US to become the company’s country manager in India, for the same salary.
In fact, CXOs in India are in a commanding position. A German manufacturing giant offered $300,000 and president (India) position in Bangalore to a top executive. He turned it down, demanding $500,000.
