Meet JoeRecruiter - THE Legal Recruiter
There are many different types of industries, so it stands to reason that there are just as many types of recruiters to service those fields. Legal Recruiting is (of course) one of them. Since I have never recruited lawyers I never think about legal recruiters. If I should hapen to meet one, I would expect to encounter a white-collared, stiffed-shirts with barely a sense of humor and a black briefcase.
Well, I recently stumbled across a Legal Recruiter in the blogosphere and he is managed to shatter any and all preconceived notions I may have had. His name is - Joe Recruiter. The name may have been changed to protect the innocent, but not the sardonic wit and wisdom he prescribes.
A description of the JoeRecruiter blog…
JoeRecruiter is a Legal Recruiter who really, REALLY tells you how it is. I mean really REALLY. You can ask questions, make comments, or just read, learn, and, you know, just, well, ponder. Joe’s making the world safe for attorneys, law firms, and legal recruiters.
A description of JoeRecruiter.
Once upon a time, I was a sweet, innocent, well-behaved, highly respected member of society. I had a wife, a job, a house, a car, and a life. Then I became a recruiter. A Legal Recruiter. And things have never been the same. Food doesn’t taste as good. The sun isn’t as bright. Dogs bite me. Kids hate me. Even spiders won’t bite me (well, that’s a good thing). I sit on the grass, and it dies where I sat. I touch a flower, and it dies. Yes, I am a legal recruiter, bwah hah hah. And I am coming for your soul!!!!!!!!!! (Just as soon as I hit Starbuck’s, I mean.)
And a typical JoeRecruiter rant…
“Lawyers are trained to be unsatisfied with surface elements, to dig and probe, and search, and analyze, and look even deeper. Applied to themselves, this quickly becomes a source of immense professional dissatisfaction. Some, who, prior to this awareness were always capable of sublimating their dissatisfaction into a drive for performance lose the ability, and they leave the profession.
However, before it gets to that, many in the profession look to change jobs, and that’s where I come in. Or rather me and others like me (to be completely accurate, others who aspire to BE like me). Law Firms don’t particularly care for outside Legal Recruiters either because they’re a) they’re dorks; or b) they have WAAAAAAYYYYYY too much time on their hands; or c) both, plus they’re filled with control freaks, too; and d) they’re tight-asses, and don’t know how to spend money wisely. We’ll deal with this last one later.”
If you are curious about what its like to recruit for the legal profession, I think Joe will give you a very raw and in-your-face view of the inside.
